I'm doing some basic SEO and one of the things recommended is making the title tag the first tag in the head section. From what I can tell, this involves modifying the skin slightly but I can't find where/what I need to change. Has anyone else done this successfully?

Thanks,

     -RJ

I haven't seen this as a recommendation for SEO and can't see how it will make a difference, every search engine can read a <title> tag.  But the bottom line is, nope.  DNN doesn't allow you to control this with skins.  You could rewrite some of the core if it's an issue, but I doubt it's even effective.

It's not necessary to modify where the title tag is located in dot net nuke. I've got plenty of sites optimized for SEO that are doing just fine. Just make sure you actually create a title for each page!
