If you send me how-to-instructions on adding an image datatype, I'll send you $50-$100 through:
  Google Checkout PayPal

I need help adding an Image datatype to the user's profile property editor. If you login as Host and hover over the Host Menu and then select the "List" subitem you will see a datatype folder listed in the accordian style menu to the left. Select the "datatype" folder and you will then see a List Detail module with about 12 entries listed.

Here's a screenshot of the List Details Module you should now see on your screen:

  List Details

DataType

12 entries
 Add Entry   Delete List

    Text Value
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.CheckEditControl, DotNetNuke TrueFalse
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DateEditControl, DotNetNuke Date
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DateTimeEditControl, DotNetNuke DateTime
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DNNCountryEditControl, DotNetNuke Country
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DNNListEditControl, DotNetNuke List
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DNNLocaleEditControl, DotNetNuke Locale
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DNNPageEditControl, DotNetNuke Page
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DNNRegionEditControl, DotNetNuke Region
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DNNRichTextEditControl, DotNetNuke RichText
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.DNNTimeZoneEditControl, DotNetNuke TimeZone
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.IntegerEditControl, DotNetNuke Integer
DotNetNuke.UI.WebControls.TextEditControl, DotNetNuke Text

These are all the DotNetNuke core datatypes that are used when creating the profile fields of the DNN registration form. I'm trying to find a programmer that knows how to add an image datatype field to the list above. I heard that adding a datatype should be a quick and easy task, I just want to learn the basics of extending the profile property editor. For example, once the new datatype is added how can I limit the file size and pixel size of the user's image. Also how do you replace the old user image with the new user image when the user decides to change their image in the manage your profile section?

I've not made an image one before so i can't answer specific questions about that, but it is quite easy to create new ones. The general background can be read @ http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/BlogsDotNetNuke/tabid/825/EntryID/457/Default.aspx and Charles go through a detailed tutorial @ http://www.dnndevzone.com/Library/tabid/126/ArticleId/4/Default.aspx

It would be great if the image type were added to the core - it really helps the user profile and then all modules could standardise their approach to this (ie. the Forum use their own avatar, I use my own image on the Smart-Thinker profile module etc.)

I have read that it is easy to do before but the issue as Rodney stated is that this really needs to be a part of the standard Profile.

An Image is such a clear part of an Identity profile and it just doesn't make sense to have each module developer create their own extension for this that isn't known or available to other modules.

Thanks for listening.

One of the things I want to do with my Image Editor control DNN Forge project  (http://codeplex.com/imageeditor) to wrap it into an image data type property edit control for use in the user profile but have not had time to look deeply into how this is done. I am particularly uncertain as to how to allow the developer/dnn profile to set the many properties of this control such as image size, aspect ratio, etc.  Perhaps someone more familiar with the property edit controls and the user profile would like to take this on (hint).
