I have a DNN installation up and working (example1.com) .  I was able to point an additonal domain at the the instance and create a parent portal (example2.com).  The problem that I have is creating a portal using a subdomain.  I've attempted to create a parent portal using subdomain.example1.com and receive http 404 error.  The host header for subdomain.example1.com is pointed at example1.com.  I've verified that the DNS resolves to the DNN server and when I attempt http://subdomain1.example1.com/default.aspx my main DNN portal is displayed.  The parent portal for subdomain.example1.com was successfully created in DNN.  Anyone have any ideas?

If you're using Host Headers, make sure the IIS instance has all the host ehaders listed so it will p[ass them.  Make sure the portal alias reflects what you're passing in the URL.  You don't need host headers if DNN is the only site in IIS, it's all one site.
