I noticed that if a user posts a comment to a blog entry while logged in to my site, it displays their account logon ID as the "By <name>" for the comment.  Any easy way to change this so that it just displays their registered first name instead??

I would rather see "By John" instead of "By johndoe"

Thanks

Hi Brandon,

while they are logged in, users cannot customize their name when leaving comments. Their DNN username will be used instead. To enter a custom name, you need to log out.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I see that is how it works currently.  I'd like to change it to just default to their registered first name (or even first and last) instead.  Was wondering how difficult it would be?

Hi Brandon,

I didn't test it personally, but try changing ViewEntry.ascx.vb at line 329:

oComment.Author = Me.UserInfo.Username

in

oComment.Author = Me.UserInfo.FirstName

Recompile and test. Let me know if you encounter any problems.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I'd personally use "Me.UserInfo.DisplayName,", but I understand that the original question asked about the first name only.

This is an enhancement that should be logged in Gemini -- authenticated comments should include DisplayName (or if there is no userId linkage, something like "DisplayName (UserName)").

Brandon -- since you are the original poster here, would you please consider logging it as an enhancement in Gemini, located at http://support.dotnetnuke.com?  Let me know if you are able to do so so I can monitor the work item.  Thanks!

(The other) Brandon
