I changed a column from yes/no to integer and moved its location relative to the other columns. Nothing else. Then I updated/returned to the table, I got the message "Unhandled error loading module." Even worse, the edit menu is no longer available, so I can not get back to the udt manage screen to try and fix things! I've a lot of data in the table and do not want to lose it. How do I recover?

I suggest to revert your data type modification directly in database, in table userdefinedfields. get the moduleID from the URL and you will easily find the appropriate row with the value to change.

This will be my first time doing something like this. I am downloading SQL Server Express from Microsoft now and am willing to give it a shot. But, can you give me a bit more in the way of step by step instructions?

you need SQL Server Management Studio installed, either separately or as a part of SQL Server Express Advanced or SQL Server Express Tools.

Open Management Studio, connect to your database, select table UserDefinedFields and double click to get all records displayed. Find those with appropriate moduleID and Field name. in column type you notice the wrong value, check with another row of the appropriate type to get the correct one to replace (like you would in Excel). leave the row with your cursor and test.

I'm at dbo.UserDefinedFields, under which are 6 folders - Columns, Keys, Constraints, Triggers, Indexes, and Statistics. Then, under Columns, for example, there are a bunch of items - FieldTitle, Visible, FieldOrder, ... If I double click on one of these I get a properties window. No data. So ... I don't see what to do here. What's next?
