Sounds like a stupid question but, is there a way to setup a Portal to email the errors like in log4net they have the SmtpAppender that you can specify the threshold, email, subject, etc.?

Thanks,

Sheldon

There's no such thing as a stupid question about DNN!

I haven't used the feature myself (yet) but there are such email options in the individual event log items.

Thank you, I guess I had never set this up before, or missed it. I see the settings now, in case anyone else comes across it I've taken a screen shot as well:

Hi Sheldon,

I extended the DNN logging provider awhile back to provide this functionality.  Currently full exceptions go to my inbox, and brief messages go to my cell.

I've been meaning to write up my approach for this, but haven't had too much time lately.  It's currently second on my to-blog list.  When I finally get it up, I'll let you know.

I wouldn't be surprised, however, if there was already functionality floating around the Internet that performed this task.
