I'm trying to get an idea about DNN scalability as a public web site. Can you run content drive web site with 50,000+ personal profile web pages and 1M+ uniques per month running on DNN? Any examples of other web sites running on DNN? Thanks!

AFAIK, the largest one in traffic is one developed for the Australian football league.

On the highest number of registered users front you have www.dotnetnuke.com I don't know about unique visits, but I could ask around.

As for profile pages, which I guess would be better implemented as just one page with dynamically loaded values for 50.000+ users, you should have no problems. Your actual challenges are the web server and DB boxes.

I would also say that the biggest concern most likely would be how the mdoule is written that is used to display the 50K+ profile pages!

According to Quancast, dotnetnuke.com gets about 3,3K+ uniques per month. While someone can argue accuracy of their data is, it is good proxy when comparing different web sites and still very far from 1M+.

Dynamic profile sounds like a good idea, unfortunately our goal is SEO driven -- more pages with true content, higher rankings.

Our approach is to generate unique URL for each profile page, just like LinkedIn.com creates their public profiles. We would also like to localize these pages by state, for example your profile’s URL could be: http://www.mydomain.com/profiles/ia/MitchelSellers
