A new beta has been uploaded that doesn't remove users from DNN only roles.

I'm testing your latest beta.  Thanks.  By the way, when I go to uninstall the last version I get the following error at the end of the routine, although it appears to have been removed:

ExceptionSystem.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.XmlMerge.ProcessNode(XmlNode node) at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.XmlMerge.ProcessNodes(XmlNodeList nodes, Boolean saveConfig) at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.XmlMerge.UpdateConfig(XmlDocument target, String fileName) at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.ConfigInstaller.UnInstall() at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.ComponentInfo.UnInstall() at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.PackageInfo.UnInstall() at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.InstallerInfo.UnInstall() at DotNetNuke.Services.Packages.Installer.UnInstall()

Beta tested on my test site and is working as planned.  Very nice.  Moving to production! ! !

I'm guessing that error is due to the fact that I comment out the authentication string in the web.config file after the install.  I don't want users to be automatically authenticated.  I want them to get into the habit of logging in.  Anyway, so far, in production it seems to be performing nicely.  I have DNN roles that are not being messed with and AD roles that are getting updated as users are added and removed.  You understand the situation I was talking about before, right?  We have Helpdesk users that have access to AD and they need the ability to add users to groups in AD.  Nothing prevents them from adding and removing themselves from AD groups, and we "trust" them to do that correctly and honestly.  However, on the intranet, we can restrict them from seeing "certain" sensitive information by creating DNN roles and not adding them to those roles.  That is my example of why you would want to keep them separate, as you have done nicely!  Thanks again!

On another note...is anyone having the problem of when you look at the security roles page, click on a role to view the members, then click the cancel button at the bottom you get "page cannot be displayed"?  I wonder if that is theme related or not...?

I misread your comment about the groups Timster, sorry. I understand what you were saying now.

Yes, I've seen the error when as well. It's something I keep meaning to check in DNN 5 to see if it still exists but haven't had a chance.

Hey Timster,

This sounded familiar. There's this completed issue in the bug tracker,

http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=7216&PROJID=2

that sounds pretty close, it's for cancelling from user settings from Admin Security Roles, and it says it is fixed for 5.0.0. Not sure if that's your bug.  If not, you could enter it into the tracker.

I'm running 4.8.2 and I can duplicate the bug in the bug tracker, but I think my UI is a little different from yours, I don't have a "cancel" when editing the list of users in a role.

Best,
Roberta
