Is there a logical reason why the News module removes the "Edit Newsfeed" menu choice after an XSL error?  As I tinker with the output format, I end up in a position where I can't change the XSL link, and I often can't overwrite the bad XSL file due to sharing violations.  Pretty frustrating to have to delete the module and start over.

Not that I know about.  I've seen that too, and agree with you completely.  In fact, I've gotten fooled by this error, so much that I installed a completely different site, because I lost the ability to change anything in all of my modules.  Today, playing around, I found that again, and just changed the xsl back and things 'fixed' themselves.
