I have been playing around with skinning and I discovered that there is an inline style rule in the main form tag rendered by DNN. It's style="height: 100%" Has anybody else noticed this? Question to the DNN people: Why, oh, why are you using an inline style rule? Surely by now you should know that inline style rules are a huge, gigantic no-no! Are there any plans to get rid of this? It's one thing trying to make a skin work for a browser and it's another having to fight the framework as well. Looking forward to feedback

In the current release of DNN, there are many problems with the rendered output - some of which are just not compliant code (HTML/CSS/XHTML).  As soon as version 5 is released, I think you will be pleased to see nearly all of those problems disappear.  From what I have seen, I am blown away.  I cannot wait!  The core team has done an amazing job!

Yes, this is on the list of future changes, not sure for which version.

Please remember DNN has a history, which means the output HTML is not always the way web developers want, it but changes can break previous skins, so these changes have to be considered carefully.

But I agree, I have also wondered why the 100% is there in the first place... And yes, inline styles are bad in a CMS

Using inline CSS is bad, it has nothing to do with standard compliant. The team might did something in the past that comply with W3C compliance. However, it doesn't mean it's a best practice. You can create HTML with inline CSS and run through W3C, as long as they are well-formed tags, it should validate. It's just not comply with "best practice".

Hello Timo,

It's good to see a project team member taking an interest in my post.

When you say you are not sure which version, does this mean that it will not be in the upcoming version (v5)?

Cheers,

Steven
