I have just installed a fresh installation of DNN 4.8.3 (source version).   I am running IIS v6 and when I install DNN a virtual directory is created under localhost.  I have been creating a new database using SQL Server Express and compiling all the source code with Visual Studio 8 prior to installing.  I also have my browser to accept all cookies. 

http://localhost/dotnetnuke_2/default.aspx

I can login in as admin or host and perform all the necessary functions.  Everything seems fine.  The problem is when I try to login using my computer name in the URL. 

http://<ComputerName>/dotnetnuke_2/default.aspx

When I try to login using host or admin then it redirects me back to the home page with no indication of being logged in.  No error.  I'm using forms authentication (the default) and it is perplexed me for the past couple of days.  Here are a few symptoms...

1) When using the computer name in the URL there are no cookies being written to my machine.

2) I can enter in the wrong password and it will give me a password fail notification.  But if I put in the right password it just redirects me back to the home with no indication of being logged in. 

3) I have checked permissions and security (NETWORK SERVICE permissions, etc) and I don't see any problems.

Scott. Have you tried clearing your cookies before going to http://<Computername>/dotnetnuke_2/default.aspx? Is there anything entered in the EventViewer when you try to login with the correct password?
