I move my live site from xyz.com to a local machines (not really moved, but an alternate copy).

I restored the DB to the local machine and now when I visit the local site, it redirects automatically to the live (xyz.com) site.

Any clues?

Thanks
Joe

Go into the database and open the PortalAlias table and change the alias to point to your local install.

Got it, I was putting in the port number in the aliases. Removed it and bingo.

Now my images are not showing.

Your image paths are most likely off due to the move from live to local. You may try a tool such as this one to correct the issue.
