I have somehow lost access to the host account. I'm sure I am using the password I created. I only created this portal on our dev server 4 days ago. We had a power outage and servers were down for a while and both Admin and host accounts wouldn't let me in after that. I did create an account with admin access prior to the outage that could get in and was able to change the admin password so it works again. I didn't create another user with Host access. Can someone please explain how I can change direct in the DB? I found a table with authentication ID but don't know how to make the password change based on what I'm seeing in that field. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards,Kris

Kris,

If memory serves the last time I did this I did the following (Note you can automate this in a sql query but I like doing it the first time manually so I see what I'm doing easier):

1) Look up two usernames in question and record (i.e. Copy and Paste into notepad or something) the associate UserID GUID with each record.

a) The username you can't remember the password for (i.e. "host" in this case)

b) A username you do know the password for (If you don't know any then register a new user first and look that username up)

2) Using those two GUID ID's looking up the associated records in the aspnet_membership table.

3) Copy the encrypted values in both the "Password" field and "PasswordSalt" fields from the one you know (e.g. from 1b) to the record for which you've forgotten the password (e.g. from 1a).

a) This should effectively change your host password to match the value of whatever account you do recall the password for.  In your case I would choose the Admin account.

 I hope that helps.
