Hi all

I did goof a bit when I upgraded a DNN site loosing the web.config. The only thing I really need/miss is the encryption string but I thought Isn't it just to copy one from another installation and to copy the database encryption fields for host user and then up and running to login again? I am sur eI am not the only one doing this but exactly which encrypted fields shoudl be copied from a working db installation?

we have a backup remotely on all the files but I am not the technician in charge of the backupaccount and so have to wait a day before I can work again with that particular installation.... and cannot wait .... want to get finished.... so if it is safe to copy the keys from other solutions then I would be happy

Johan,

As long as you update the connection string and your machine key you will be good to go. These need to be the same as you had previously. However, there may be other modificationso that you've made to the web.config that you could make as well (http handler additions, etc..). A utility like WinMerge may be really helpful in this situation.

Take care,

Ian
