I am a little confused about a DNN installation I have set-up and wondered if anyone can speculate as to what is happening here...

I have set-up a MAIN DNN site at : http://dnn.mawhitfield.net using the traditional 'auto-install' approach etc. With a view to keeping a back-up and mirror site, I have backed-up the files and the database entirely for this website and restored them to the following domains (and sub domains) at the same ISP :

http://www.mawhitfield.net

http://dnn2.mawhitfield.net

Now though, whenever I type www.mawhitfield.net, my site re-directs to http://dnn.mawhitfield.net and the same for typing http://dnn2.mawhitfield.net (it also now goes to http://dnn.mawhitfield.net.

Whats interesting is that I had a previous .NET website at www.mawhitfield.net which was built from a more basic personal starter kit from ASP.NET and this was in place until this morning and typing www.mawhitfield.net (this morning) when this website was in place didn't cause the re-direction.

Is this strange re-direct behaviour as a result of a DNN database being totally backed up and restored to a different domain/sub-domain but still carrying the attributes for the area it came from (hence the re-direction) or is it likely to be an ISP issue of domains and subdomains.

Thanks in advance for any help here. Any ideas on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated as if I move ISP providers in the future, I may carry my DNN backup with me but don't want to re-direct (after install) to something that no longer exists.

Cheers

MARK.

Sounds like the portal alias is incorrect.  Changing it to the URL you're entering should bring up the correct site.

Cheers Jeff... Quick questions...

When you say 'Changing it to the URL you're entering...'... do you mean make a change to the alias by logging onto the website as HOST and amending the portal alias. If so, how is this achieved. Do you delete the current alias then re-add as there is no amend button from what I can see.

Excuse my newbie inexperience...

Cheers

MARK.
