I have a SQL Server 2005 Instance called BDR

I have transfered an existing database (mydb.mdf and *.log) to my local instance (BDR)

The problem is my test instance has limitied hard drive space, and database size is 1.3 gb.

I tried to shrink db and files, and it ended up to 700mb.

However this didn't satisfy me. When i open the tables, i don't see much records on tables therefore i need to decrease it more.

I have searched through articles but didn't come up with good result. Could you please advice me to how to reduce this database size to 300 mb or less?

Usin SQL Server 2005 and SQL Management Studio.

Thanks.

Ismet,

I would start by looking at the size of your EventLog and SiteLog table.

THen i would ensure that regular backups are being completed which truncate the transaction log for the database.

I have a handy Stored Procedure listed on my blog about determining SQL Server table sizes that you can use to pinpoint the big tables if needed.
