I am very new to DNN; new like installed for the first time today.  I have a big MOSS 2007, and WSS 3.0 background, as well as SunOne portal.  I am having trouble trying to figure out how to administer it.  I have a portal travisfallshosting.  I want to use this as my root.  I then want to create a new parent portal called chamberlin granite on my test server.  I want to access it via http://localhost/chamberlingranite but it doesn't work.  I have set this to my alias, but nothing... how do I configure this in IIS to get it to work.  I tried setting a virtual directory to my new portal's directory but did not work.  Thanks.  (Oh and any other newbie docs you can point me to to get up to speed would be great.)

Thanks Tom, I am digging DNN so far, just a big learning curve, and stuggling to keep, DNN stuff and WSS stuff from getting jumbled.  :-)  Same concepts, was different ways of implementing.

Creating a DNN Parent Portal

I checked out that post, I think it let me know what I dont' know... which is where to point my DNS too... I setting this up on thre virtual servers running MS virtual server 2k5 r2, which has three virtual machines, all win2kr2 sp2.  One is DNS, WINS, Active Directory, One is SQL Server 2K5 and the other is IIS and DNN.  Should I point my development DNS to the Portal directory for my new parent portal?  WHen I create it I put an alais of localhost/ChamberlinGranite... I want it to render like my install Host portal which renders when I type http://localhost/TravisFallsHosting on my DNN machine.  Thoughts?  Sorry if I am being dense and not getting this.
