Hello

I am experimenting with DNN 4.0.2 and wnated to alter a bit the contacts module (as an example). I can see the ascx file but where is the vb code behind this? I have downloaded the source version and build it, everything works ok but i cannot find the vb code behind the modules so that i undestand how they work.

can anyone help me?

The sourcecode for the contacts module (or any of the modules) is on the modules own download page:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Default.aspx?tabid=856

I don't think it includes asp.net 2.0 source though. This is not a big problem, since asp.net 1.1 modules work in DNN4 also. I you want to find out how they work in DNN4: use the starterkit to add a new module to your project, it'll give you a working module from scratch.

FYI: the "DNN_Contacts.Resource" file in that source download is actually a zip archive renamed. Append ".zip" to the name and you can see the vb files.

Yes, the binary version works in DNN4, but it is not written for DNN4, like many CORE V4 modules. The best recourse is to port it yourself: use the templates created with the starterkit, copy contents of the V3 files into appropriate files.  It's kind of 'lonesome' cowboy act... Hey ! you'll get to learn something useful during the porting !! And maybe you would contribute it back to DNN !!!
