I just had a similar experience running DotNetNuke 04.08.04 and the most recent version of DigiFlash.  After installing it, the site would not come up (none of the three portals on my host DNN).  No benefit from restarting the application or from restarting IIS.  I deleted the DLL and restarted the application:  still no site.  I then removed the DigiFlash directory and the site was up again.  I have remote access to the server and checked Task Manager while the site was spinning.  Nothing unusual, though the Network Service process was using a small amount of CPU the entire time.
