Can you login as the HOST to see more info?

If not, try looking in the EventLog table in the database to see if you can get more detailed information about the error.

Now logged in as host, i get the following error for site settings;-

Error: Site Settings is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: The role 'Administrators' was not found. ---> System.Configuration.Provider.ProviderException: The role 'Administrators' was not found. at System.Web.Security.SqlRoleProvider.GetUsersInRole(String roleName) at System.Web.Security.Roles.GetUsersInRole(String roleName) at DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController.GetUsersInRole(Int32 PortalID, String RoleName) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.PortalManagement.SiteSettings.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

---btw, the site was hacked pretty badly... sql ijection. all the tables hacked have been fixed... not sure if we missed something and if this error is hence as a result of this.

That's a pretty descriptive error, have you looked to see if the role Administrators exists?
