I'm new to DNN so please bear with me.

Some background, a third party developed our applications with .NET and used DNN as the portal for the applications.

The budget ran out so we'er doing thing on our own.

I recently modoified an application in a test environment, rebuildt the solution, went to test the modification. I could not get logged in to DNN.

Kept tell me that my ID and password were wrong. Tried host it would not work iether.  Did some seaching over the form and found how to get Host working.

Working with my login I was not able to get it to work. I registered again then deleted tihe old account.

I then checked my modification and got the excexted result.

Now then I would like to put this into production.

the problem is this, I would like the users to test the modification before put it into production.

How can I get my users to successfully login without re-registering?

When it comes time to move it into production could I have the same problem there as I do on the test system?

The test box is WIndows XP sp2. I don't know and don't know how to find the version of DNN. I'm thinking maybe 3 something.

Thanks for any and all assistance!

From the sounds of it you have an improper machinekey/validationkey value inside your web.config.

If they are incorrect, you can mass set the passwords all to a default, but otherwise they would need to create new accounts.  Moving to production shouldn't be an issue, as long as you keep the web.config intact.

I'm assuming the web.config your refering to is the one at the root of the DNN folder.

Is there a way  to repair the web.config on the test box?

Can I copy the webconfig from Production to Test?

How do I  "mass set the passwords all to a default"?
