I have the Friendly Url option in Host Settings ticked and yet I don't seem to be getting FriendlyUrls, e.g. (not logged on)

http://www.markwhitfield.net/Blog/tabid/66/BlogID/5/language/en-US/Default.aspx

http://www.markwhitfield.net/Contact/tabid/54/language/en-US/Default.aspx

http://www.markwhitfield.net/About/tabid/60/language/en-US/Default.aspx

So for the last address, would I not expect to see http://www.markwhitfield.net/about.aspx (or something more abridged at least)? Or is the above notation regarded as friendly?

Do I need to carry out another update to web.config.

Thanks in advance for all your help here.

Hey Mark,

There are (at least) three kinds of URLs in DNN: "default", "Friendly", and "Human Friendly".

default: dotnetnuke.com/default.aspx?tabid=57

friendly: dotnetnuke.com/tabid/57/Default.aspx

human friendly dotnetnuke.com/AwesomePage.aspx

What you're seeing on your site is "Friendly" and what you are wanting to see is "Human Friendly"

You should check out Bruce Chapman's URL rewriting tools at http://ifinity.com.au for more information.

Take care,

Ian

Hey Mark,

You're welcome! I'd like to clarify too that Bruce's solutions are not the only solutions, just the only that I've used. Searching around the forums and google in general for human friendly URLs will turn up more results if you want to explore a bit more...

Take care,

Ian

Ian

Thanks for the plug, I appreciate it.

Mark, just to add : to go from the 'pagename/tabid/xx/default.aspx' style to 'pagename.aspx' style with the standard DNN Friendly Url Provider, you need to add the attribute urlformat="HumanFriendly"  to your web.config, in the 'DNNFriendlyUrl' section.
