Hello there, I have recently (5 days ago) upgraded to announcements module v4.00.01, and since the day I have upgraded I see a module exception critical error on my dnn installation everyday without fail for atleast 6-7 times a day at almost regular intervals. It is related to the announcements module. It is to be noted that I was not facing this problem until I performed the upgrade.

Can anyone please point as to what is the cause and how to fix it?

Your help is highly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Following is the complete error:

Hi,

Did you manage to fix this? I too have a "Module Load Exception" Error.

My Error appears in the Site Log (in Admin).

I am not aware of anything which has changed, I just logged in one day as the Admin user and most of the content was blank - many modules missing from most of the pages. I can log in as normal user and as host and everything is ok - all site and all modules appear as normal.

here is my error log:

ModuleId: 443
ModuleDefId: 103
FriendlyName: User Settings
ModuleControlSource: DesktopModules/Forum/Forum_UserSettings.ascx
AssemblyVersion: 04.05.05
PortalID: 0

UserAgent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)
DefaultDataProvider: DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider
ExceptionGUID: ***
InnerException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
FileName:
FileLineNumber: 0
FileColumnNumber: 0
Method: DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.UserSettings.SelectMultiTreeItems
StackTrace:

 ------------------------------------------

Can anyone decipher what the above means?

Is it perhaps related UserSettings (as noted in Method or ModuleControlSource:)?

When i type in the Raw URL address (above) - it displays the user settings box displayed in our Knowledge Base / or Forum Module.

Perhaps a user has made an erroneous selection and created a bug? but i'm not sure why everything should be blank in the admin account?
When I give a normal user admin permissions - their admin login is ok - it's just the default Admin user account which is corrupt.

Any ideas?
thanks, mark.

Not sure what this could be, i will try to do some testing. Without further information though its hard to track this error down.

the error you are reporting here is not related to the announcement module but to the core forums module

I am receiving the same error message in my Event Log as well. I can paste if needed. DNN version 4.08.00. Will need to install the previos version until a fix is implemented.
