Hi All,

I run my site at WebHost4Life, which (I think) supports 2 SQL Server DBs. I was wondering if it was possible to use these to run 2 instances of DNN so that I can run my live site using 1 DB and then create a 'development/test' site (based on the live site) so that I can test the upgrade process? I would then like to switch 'development/test' site over to operate as the live site. Note that currently DNN is installed in the root and I do not want to have to use a virtual directory on the live site URL.

Is this possible, has anyone tried this, is it documented anywhere?

Many Thanks, John.

You could most likely do it in a round about way using a subdomain for the second site.

The hard part is that you have the file copy process that takes time, and if the two databases are not synced you cannot just make the dev site the new production.

This doesn't sound feasible if you have DNN in the root and don't want to use a virtual directory.  You might be better off using a system at home for the development site.
