Hi there!

I developed a custom module and now have a question: I use the "settings"-Page to store the settings for the module, and it workes fine but if I use the "add existing module" -function the settings from the referenced module are not taken across to the new module....

How can I achieve this?

Thanks,

Andi

there are two different kinds of settings: Modules settings and TabModule Settings.

ModuleSettings are used for all references to a module instance on any page while TabModuleSettings are specific per page reference. UDT utilized this diffences to allow setup of differently filtered and configured views of the same module on multiple pages.

If understand this correctly, when I choose "settings" from the module menu, these are the settings for the module that are specific to a page, and any other "settings" accessed from a module are shared by all copies of the module that were added using "Add Existing Module" on the admin control panel?

Have you gotten anywhere with this? I really need to be able to keep settings on a module when I copy to create a new page!

This depends on how the code is saving the settings inside the control, if it is referenced, ModuleSettings will be persisted and used by both instances, and TabModuleSettings will be created new.

A module developer could use one or BOTH of these methods for saving settings inside a module.
