I want to be able to insert a module on a parent page that will display on all of that page's children, but NOT on any other pages.

For instance, say my site's menu layout was like this:

  • foo
    • f1
    • f2
  • bar
    • b1
    • b2

I want to be able to insert a module in foo and have it appear on pages f1 and f2 not as copies, but as linked content.

I hacked together a way of doing it by setting the module to display on all pages, then deleting it from pages where it didn’t belong. From there, the content was linked across the pages. But that method is tedious and causes it to be created on all new pages, which is not desirable.

You could do this through SQL.  You could also create your sub-pages as copies of the parent page and that would get the modules on the sub-pages while you create them.

I don't have access to any sort of DBMS. My sole access is as a remote administrator of the portal itself. And even that is frustrating enough without it probably being an old version of the software (circa 2005).

I did however find the "insert existing module" function and have been using that to link modules between pages.
