Hi,

I have a child page that I need to hide programmatically in ASP.NET. That is, visibility of this child page is not controlled simply by a user's role alone. When the user clicks on the parent page, I tried the following code:

Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init

Dim controller As TabController = New TabController

Dim tab as TabInfo

<Insert business logic check here>

Dim tab As TabInfo tab = controller.GetTabByName("Tab Name", PortalId)

tab.IsVisible = False

End Sub

Unfortunately this code doesn't work and the link for the page is still visible. Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thx.

More than likely you will need to create a custom menu component to accomplish this as the menu object provided with DotNetNuke is all done based on role, and visibility as pulled from the database, and cached.

donnapep, everything you did is correct, except you have to commit the change back to the DB.  The best way to do this is by calling

tab.IsVisible = False

controller.UpdateTab(tab)
