I have been researching hosting companies in order to find the best one to suit my needs pricewise and overall DNN supportability and Webhost4life looks like it is the one for me. Primarily, I am looking for a place to build my site and eventually launch it (approx. a year from now) without spending unnecessary $$ while I'm developing a large community site. I would like any feedback on some pros and cons of this co. from an experienced viewpoint. Thanks to those who replied to my earlier request re: who to look into.

In case any future newbies are interested (which seems unlikely since no one else seems to be) I'll field this one myself. Upon waiting 15 minutes to talk to a sales rep., what sounded like a stoney voiced teenager answered the phone. When asked what the true limit of the "unlimited bandwidth traffic" was offered in their Advanced Plan, I was informed that if only a few 100 people tried to access my website that they would begin having trouble geting on and manipulating the site because I would be sharing the server with other customers and this would be too much of a drain on the CPU !?!?!?! REALLY!?!?! I asked whether a plan was in place to handle a spike in activity and was informed that I would be e-mailed, but the traffic would be disrupted until I upgraded to a higher end package. I then decided to try the chat support, that bragged about it's zero wait time,  you know ...just in case Dad may have walked away from the phones for a moment and his prankster son was just being mischievious. After waiting for 5 minutes I repeated the question to the proffessional support tech. and received an undecipherable english resonse (no lessons on the drawbacks of outsourcing are required, thank you) this was after waiting 10 Minutes!!! Finally, after being informed that the ACTUAL plan in place for a spike in my "unlimited bandwidth traffic" was that my site would be shut down, I informed him that I felt I had a sufficient amount of information about the company and thanked him for his time. I may not be a computer genius, but what I do know is that customer service is the lifes bread of any company and based on the above scenario Webhost4life will not be for me.

The support at Webhost4life is well-meaning, but as you've discovered, often seems retarded. There's obviously a language barrier, but it is also the result of their cost structure. Unlimited bandwidth only means that it is not metered for your account. It doesn't mean that unlimited bandwidth is available, and this is obviously restricted by the resources available to the server. The first answer they gave was correct, and in the case of a DNN portal even overly optimistic. The second response appears to be answering what happens if one site on a shared server starts consuming inordinate ammounts of any resource.. and the correct answer at any host is that they will shut it down. If you're serious about running a DNN portal for business then a cheapie shared account is just not a viable option. You really must have guaranteed resources dedicated to your own site.

Personally I recommend 3Essentials (referral link in signature) for all shared hosting plans.  They have good support, and decent prices.

I have heard HORROR stories about WH4L, you can search these forums for othe threads like this.
