I set up my starterkit dnn as a virtual directory and dnn should run in IIS, At least that's what I thought.

This is the error that I got:

Event Type:      Error
Event Source:   ASP.NET 2.0.50727.0
Event Category:            None
Event ID:          1089
Date:                8/14/2008
Time:                10:13:34 AM
User:                N/A
Computer:        STLMOL007
Description:
Failed to execute the request because the ASP.NET process identity does not have read permissions to the global assembly cache. Error: 0x80070005 Access is denied.

It doesn't make since because my other application run fine, which mean the ASP.NET process has to be getting access to the GAC.

Not sure where you are running this, but try assigning network service with full control on your DNN Files.

Almost always because the ASP.NET process account, normally NETWORK SERVICE on IIS 6 or 7, ASPNET on IIS 5.1, doesn't have full control to the folders.  If that doesn't work, try running this from the ASP.NET directory:

aspnet_regiis -ga domain\processusername
