Hi All:

I am new to Nuke.  Installed my site and it's available here:  http://phenixwealthstrategies.com/dotnetnuke/.  On the homepage, I did not like how when you were not logged into the site, the "Client Login" box appeared on the right hand side when you were not logged in.  So I removed it when logged in.  I placed an Account Login module on the "Contact Us" page but now it does not allow you to go there, and I cannot find a login anywhere else.  So, the bottom line:  I'm locked out of the system.  Is there somewhere I can go to login to my portal?

Thank you,

-K

you can go to the logon page by going to this url: http://phenixwealthstrategies.com/dotnetnuke/default.aspx?ctl=logon

this reveals another problem though: apparently you've set a different logon page in your site settings without adding an actual logon module to that page. You can only fix this by accessing the database directly. This command will clear the custom logon page you set:

UPDATE [Portals] SET [LoginTabId] = NULL WHERE PortalId = 0

(assuming that this is the first portal on the system, otherwise change the portalid to the appropriate value)

After doing this, you will have to restart the application, this can be done by "touching" the web.config file (opening and saving it), or by recycling the application pool. This is neccessary because DNN caches these settings

Great info, Erik.

We went to login to the database only to find that we did not have the password.  GoDaddy.com could not provide that for us so we changed the database password.  This is where it got tricky.  Now the site will not come up at all because no content is queried.  Obviously the password is stored somewhere in the source code files.  Where can we access and change this?  Once we do this, presumably we will then UPDATE our database and it should work.  [nothing like being locked out double from your own system].

The database password is stored in a file called web.config, in the parent directory of where you install DotNetNuke.  I changed it, the site came up, and after making the database change as suggested earlier, I was able to login to DNN.  All back up and running.  Thank you Erik!

When clicking 'login' or 'register', the module (form) does not appear.  This is the second installation of DNN that this has happened on.  It seems to occur after making changes to the file structure of the solution in Visual Studio 2008.  However, as far as I know, nothing was altered that involved the login.  Do you have any clues here?
