I was volunteered to do the school website...I downloaded DNN and skins and it looks great on my computer but I can not FTP it to the school districts server that has all the other schools webpages. First of all which DNN download should I have used if I'm creating the website on my computer and uploading the pages to the school server? I am pretty much a newbie at web design...I also worked with the skins I bought from SOlara in dreamweaver and once again it looked great on my computer but when I ftp it parts of my background went a awayso now I'm back at square one. Please help...I'm willing to pay for help but I do not have much...anyone in San Antonio?

if you used the install version you are good to go. Just make sure you ftp all files to the live server. Please make sure you read this blog for more info: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/1293/Default.aspx

Don't forget that a DNN site is more than just the file system. It also has a database. You will need to set one up on the remote server and then import your local database to it. If you manage to get that sorted out then you'll find you need to continue further work on the live site. You can't copy pages alone to another server. It has to be the entire file system and database.

Well, I guess I did it all wrong. I built the entire site on my computer then tried to ftp it and it didn't work...I then tried Dreamweaver and tried to use the skins and containers it, too looked good but wouldn't upload correctly..  I'll be willing to start all over again if I knew I was doing it correctly...I've already wasted 3 weeks and school starts Monday.  Is there a way to upload what I have done to another server?

It's not clear how you managed to get this far without knowing about the full requirements for running a DNN portal. DNN is a fairly complicated dynamic web application - It isn't a set of static web pages, nor does it produce them in a manner that is editable in a tool like Dreamweaver. If it's running on your local computer then you must have installed and configured IIS and SQL or SQL Express server prior to installign and configuring the DNN portal. It's no simple task to set these things up without a fair amount of prior technical knowledge and so I'm wondering if you've actually done something else entirely.

I'm sorry I can't help.
