The app pool on my DNN installation has to be recycled relatively often (every few days) when the site completely stops responding. Once the pool is recycled, the site kicks right back in. What could be causing this? I haven't modified any backend code.

Watching the IIS processes, the site is using a LOT of RAM. I made sure the app is caching to disk not RAM, and lowered caching to Low. What could be causing my DNN to use so much memory?

Thanks,

Robert

Just an update:

The site went down again today, and even though the Physical Memory Usage was still at around 90%, there should have been more than enough RAM left for the site to operate.

I changed the app pool to a web garden, with 3 maximum worker processes and the site popped back up IMMEDIATELY without the need for recycling the pool. I also noticed that as I surf now, the site resources are now split between the processes. So instead of having a single worker thread consuming 100+ Megs of RAM, each smaller process only uses about 30-49 megs, and shuts down once idol. Unlike the BIG process, which got larger and larger as I worked in it.

If this hold up then it's solution I was looking for, but I'll keep an eye on it.

It often caused by third party moldule's memory leak, you can verify third party modules you used and do some tesing such as uninstalling some modules.

I'm not really using any third party modules. Just a site map, which is on a rarely visited page.

After making the app pool a web garden with 3 processes, each of the processes are now using about 60 megs of RAM (for 1 portal)!!! :-( I really hope it's something I'm overlooking.

The web garden is not supported by DNN. You should not be using this feature. It will cause all sorts of issues, especially caching.

Are you getting errors in the Event Log? Can you post some of those if so? How about your Windows Application or System logs, anything out of the ordinary there?

Your AppPool, is it the default AppPool? Permissions set correctly? Is this the only web app on the server?Have you removed any un-necessary jobs from the scheduler? Are you using any type of HTML compression or white-space removal?

I could go on forever, but let's start with those.
