A client of ours recently updated their website DNN source to the 4.8.4, I had modified their events module to fullfill a requirement of theirs. The events module was based on the Events 3.2 DNN module with a few minor changes. Upon updating to 4.8.4 they overwrote those changes with the latest DNN calendar. I am curious as to whether i can just reinstall the old events module i created, or do i need to modify the new events module with the same changes made with the previous version?

You never say what version the client was using before.  My guess is that you can just go back to your old module and it will work fine.  You might want to download the latest DNN Events module to see the SQL scripts to  see if something was modified that you might need to change back, such as a stored procedure or a table.
