Sebastian,

I just had a rather lengthy discussion about tis very issue with my wife yesterday.  Some how I don't think the Farmers here in the U.S. need that extra hour of sunlight in the summer to make ends meet.

Or if anything, they don't need it to make ends meet; meat or no meat involved. :)  But seriously, with modern technology (including GPS guided tractors, etc) daylight savings is a load of crap.  On the flipside, could you imagine the cost involved for pulling support from it in all the software and systems that currently do support it (and in an automated as in "can't turn this puppy off" feature)?

Fooberichu,

I fixed my post now yours doesn't make any sense. :)

If they pulled Daylight Savings Time, then all devices will be like my wife's alarm clock.  The minutes will be right, but it could be 2 hours ahead or an hour behind, only she can be sure :)

I live in Indiana and only a few years ago we started observing daylight savings time, before that we never changed our clocks.  Being on Eastern DST now does make it much easier to tell someone what time it is where you live now, so I guess I can't complain.

I thought daylight savings was introduced to save on energy consumption? Anyway, I turned it off on the server (observance of dst that is) and got a notice from one of my bloggers that that didn't fix the issue so I'll keep poking at it and sooner or later here something will shake loose.

the problem is not the server - properly working DNN modules use UTC time from the server and convert to user time - unfortunately the user time zone settings in DNN user profile do not support DST atm, i.e. the users might need to switch time zone to the one being 1 hour ahead during DST. There are plans to improve this, but this has not yet been implemented.
