Getting the following error:

Accessing Global Catalog:
FAIL
Checking Root Domain:
OK
Accessing LDAP:
FAIL
Find all domains in network:
Could not access LDAP to obtain domains info
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Using default settings and:

domain set to: AA.BB.CC.com

Username: AA\Username

I have verified that AA\Username can open AD Admin console and I restarted IIS on my webserver, so what else might be keeping me from Accessing the LDAP and Global Catalog?

Here is the solution that worked for me. Hope this helps others that have run into the same problem

I just wish that it was easier to find this one. Also, once I made the changes and was auto logged in all I did to enable/disable host options was to log into the database and set superuser=true in the users table. If there is a better solution let me know. I just noticed a bug using this method. It appears that I am unable to open the admin: user account page. I am getting the following error:

Error: User accounts is currently unavailable.

I changed superuser to false and then logged out and logged back in as host. Problem solved. I also noticed another minor problem with the edit user button. When i clicked on edit user for an AD account I got a runtime error window popup. This error occured because the required fields (name, address, phone, etc.) were not populated when the AD user was created by DNN.

Guess I spoke too soon. It looks like it's only partially successful. Using the instructions from the link above I got an AD user to access the website. However, I am still running into other problems.

1)No AD user information is being populated into DNN except for the user name field. Attempting to modify the roles fails unless missing information is populated. I also can't log in manually using the AD username/password. However, after populating information including updating the DNN password, I have been able to log back in as that user. Now the AD user will no longer auto log onto the site though. I must manually enter the AD username/password. For some reason, if I click on logout with an AD user it looks like DNN is turning off AD authentication. I also tried another user account from a different machine at this point and although I can see a new user was added the user was not automatically logged into the site.

2)I wanted to use the synchronize option, but the admin page is still having the same problem failing to update with the same username/password error message.

Any ideas would be appreciated as I am noob with AD.

Thanks

Harisahmed, I am having the same problems as you with the exception of the Active Directory failures.  Have you found a solution to this yet?

Unfortunately, I haven't come across any solutions yet. I've had to switch gears several times already and since I'm not an AD expert or even a .Net expert, this has had to wait. Still hoping that someone more knowledgeable picks up on this problem and gets back to us. It would be helpful of there were some good tutorials on DNN 4.x. The basic one's that I've tried are great for just that, the basics. Nothing goes into details about setting up a more complex module or using AD.
