Hi,

if i've 2 or more portals and one installation when configure the SMTP server all portals use that settings. But i don't want that all portals use my SMTP config.

What can i do?

Thanks

Per-portal smtp settings is highly desirable in a system that also has per-portal domains, and this has been discussed here in the forums. I'm not sure however whether it actually made it onto the feature roadmap... there was some disagreement about it. Maybe someone else will know.

For the moment, a couple of the better newsletter modules provide the option just for their own purposes.

I would like to weigh in on this, and maybe get some feedback.  I am a full service dnn hosting provider, I am hosting customer portals, each under its own domain.

It is very much in my interest and their interest that email originating from a portal - whether it be newletter, feedback, etc - are coming from an email address on that domain.

The fact that this functionality isn't in there already, and that there is some disagreement as to its importance, makes me wonder...Am I doing this wrong?  Should I be setting up a dnn instance per customer?  Is that what was the intent of the design?  To give each domain their own instance of DNN, and let them reign over their portals?

The reason I am asking is because the system seems to be set up to allow me to configure sub portals, each with their own domain, and there are sites out there providing guidance as to how to add customer portals as sub portals - which I have followed.

The SMTP functionality seems to go against this, and is a deal breaker as far as hosting multiple customer web sites on a single DNN instance.

Looking forward to hearing more about this.

The enhancement was logged in gemini. I don't think it will make DNN 5 though. I doubt there is any disagreement that it is a nice to have feature, it's just that there are other higher priority tasks to do. The workaround would be to impliment a smart host mail server (mail relay) in the middle I would suggest.

there are plans for major improvements of mail and messaging capabilities in DotNetNuke, which shall be configurable per portal. Due to the amount of work, this may take some time.
