Just upgraded to 4.8.4 - now none of my logins work- says I have the wrong password, and eventually locks itself out for 10 minutes.  I found a script online that is supposed to allow me to reset it from SQL, but that didn't work for me.  Any ideas?  Why does this happen???

After more searching, I kinda found the issue:

I copied the machine key from the old web.config file to the new one.  Now I can login, and I see this error when I first login:

A critical error has occurred.
Validation of v13wstat3 MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.

I don't recal needing to copy the machine key in the past-- is that new?  If I had done it before the upgrade, would it have prevented this new error message?  How do I clear this new error?
