Hello,

I noticed that if I use the Rendering Method (under "Display Settings"): 'Default Grid Table', I am provided the opportunity to enter a Filter Statement (under Grid Table Settings), but I cannot find how I can enter filter criteria under one of the other choices (Predefined or User Defined XSL Transformation).

I am attempting to create a "Sub-Topic intro page" template that will include a UDT module that displays resources from a common table but filtered for the sub-topic. For example, although I would have a common pool of resources for both pages to draw from (using differently configured instances of the same UDT), the "Canadian Resources" page would filter and display only resources filtered: Country = Canada, and the "American Resources" would display only resources filtered: Country = US.

Unfortunately, the default grid table does not suit as a presentation in this instance (and therefore I need to use one of the other 2 options).

Is this a reasonable usage of the UDT (I'm a newbie at this)? If so, can you please tell me where, and how, I could enter my filters? Also, although I used a simple example for clarity, I would need to filter on multiple fields.

Thanks

Bill

Bill,

yes, that is reasonable.

UDT, up to the 3.5.1 release, doesn't support the default filter. Instead you need to write the filter directly inside the XSL stylesheet. Syntax is a bit different. I am sure you will find some examples here inside the forum.

A filter inside a custom XSL script would be similiar to:
   <xsl:variable name="currentData" select="udt:Data[udt:Country='Canada']" />

UDT 5.0 will allow using the same filter as in default grid table everywhere.

 Thanks a lot Stefan,

I'm looking forward to exploring this.

Cheers!
