I've been seeing people talk about the errors they're getting while upgrading to 4.8.4, but I haven't seen any related to 4.6.2. I have tried twice to upgrade my site to the newest version of DNN. The first time was back in May. I tried to upgrade to 4.8.3 and when I did (by simply upzipping the UPGRADE file to over my portal directory) I received an error after the database upgrade had completed.

Thankfully I had a backup of everything and was able to fix my install.

I waited and saw that 4.8.4 had come out. I was thinking that perhaps there was something wrong with the upgrade procedures before.

Anyway, I attempted the upgrade from 4.6.2 to 4.8.4 today.

I received a Server Error with "Runtime" as the description. I could not even get to the install step to upgrade my database.

I have since restored everything to the way it was, but I need help figuring out why I would get this error.

Any ideas?

I looked through my Server's events and found the following error repeatedly after I had attempted the upgrade:

You might try resetting the file permissions after you copy the files over, sometimes Windows gets screwy with permissions and you need to reset them all for the Network Service account.
