Ok, I feel like I must be missing something here...

I am using the enrollment function of the events module, and in IE there is no 'register' link. When I look at the code, it has this style applied to it:
style="display:inline-block;border-style:None;height:3px;"

From what I can tell, the 'height:3px' is the culprit here, or am I wrong? You can tell that the link is actually there, but it is just a narrow line that is invisible. Why is this in the code, and how can I get rid of it?

Or is there a completely different solution to this problem?

Thanks!

Hi Donald,

What version of the events module are you using? Also:-

  • Is the event you are selecting in the future?
  • Have you selected a role that can enroll, and are you in that role?
  • Have you specified the event is enrollable?
  • Does it work in Firefox?

Cheers
Roger

Sorry, took me a while to get back to you --

Yes, the event is in the future and I have the permission to enroll. It does show up fine in firefox. You can tell that the link is there in IE when you move your cursor over the area where it should be, but nothing is showing up.

I was using version 3.3 before, but I just upgraded to the latest version 4.0.2, and I am still having the same problems. The 'cancel' link shows up fine in both IE and FF, but then it doesn't have the 'height:3px;' in the style.

Thanks!

Hi Donald,

Sorry, you will need to get someone who is wiser on the formatting front than me. I can't see the mention of the 3px within the code/ascx/css. So not quite sure where it comes from, but I'm guessing from some outside style sheets or the like. It maybe useful of you can post a link to your site, to help others who want to take a look.

Cheers
Roger

Hey, I have done some more testing, and I think I have found the problem...

It appears there is a style set for the purchase link that is hardcoded into the module. Normally this style does not affect the display, but when you add a doctype (I am using xhtml 1.0 transitional) it renders the purchase link invisible in IE. I even tried adding a doctype to the default dnn-blue skin, and get the exact same results.

If I remove the  Height="3px" from line 77 in the /DesktopModules/Events/EventPPEnroll.ascx file, it is rendered correctly even in standard compliance mode.

I can't see why this style is added to the button in the first place - anyone knows what the purpose of defining the height here is?

Anyone has a solution that does not involve editing the EventsPPEnroll.ascx file? Many people that purchase my skins would not have the skill/access to do this change.

Unless this style has a function, it seems it might be a good idea to remove this for the next release of the events module.

Thanks!

Donald
