It just won't upgrade and repeats this endlessly everytime I access the site.  I have another site that upgraded ok.  I just reverted to my backup and left it at 04.08.04.  Any ideas?

please make sure that you've granted the necessary file permissions, ive seen this happen before when the asp.net account did not have write permissions to the web.config folder and the root folder and below.

I've had the same problem updating my test server (hosted) from 4.8.0 to 4.9.0  -  The permissions haven't changed on the server for several upgrades and all have been trouble free.  I have recently migrated from msql2000 to msql2005 but that seemed to be trouble free.

I've add a new record in the version table in the db which at least allows me to run the application and it all appears OK - Is there an install log that I check to see where the thing fell over.

during install a log is kept of the results of each database file - see Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\*.log files i.e 04.09.00.log is the log for the 4.9 scripts. If a script runs succesfully this file will be empty (and 1k in size)

Thanks cathal - it looks as though my copy of the install files failed at some point.  I had no DB scripts later that 4.8.0 in the providers directory which I guess would explain the problem.
