Hi All

Is it possible to embed the DNN username and password in the URL so the user is logged in as the site launches ?

The site is an intranet and I am going to use a desktop application to control a fingerprint scanner to validate my users.  Then, once they have been validated, I wish to launch DNN with no further user input. 

Note: The  app that does the fingerprint scan also launches DNN in IE and can embed the users name, or anything else into the URL.

Any help or suggestions would be most welcome.

Is you fingerprint application being used for user login and start the windows session in a windows computer?

Take into consideration that including username and password in the URL could be a security hole because URLs are kept in history, temp files, etc.

You can always use something like WatiN to actually launch the browser and login.

Hi Guy,

You'll want to stay away from plain visible passwords. Some users use the same password on your installation as they would elsewhere. Giving them the opportunity to use a url login would entice them to show the password in a way that can easily be seen.
