I've made serveral post lately, all have to do with setting up after a move/copy of a working DNN system with custom applications using VB and .NET.

I thought that it would be simple, get another hardware device similar to the working device,  install OS, set up IIS,  install database, using a tape backup to restore/recovery system what was on the production system, then access Dnn and applications via browser.  How wrong I am.

How do I get from nothing working to full production in the least amount of time?  What is the correct order for desaster recovery?  Where do I look to make need adjustments on the recovery system?

The two major areas that I've seen this type of recovery have problems is with permissions and database configuration.  Generally I suggest doing an intsall of the DNN version you are restoring from scratch, complete with configuring the database, saving a copy of the web.config and then restoring the files and the database to the plain install you just did.  Use the saved web.config to merge any changes needed by the new hardware or location.
