This is what I have done:

Installed ddn 4.9.0 to the new server (windows server2003), and it works.
Upgrading to 4.9.0 om the old server (windows xp sp3), and it works.
Deconnect site and database. On the old. Move the deattacted database and the whole site map.
Attach the database on the new server. No problem.
Copy the map structure and overwrite with the old files.

And now it doesnt work. When i try to browse to the site via localhost i only come to the "under construction" page (not dnn's but ie's standard one).

I cant really figure this one out. Since I have the old server up and running it's not a big emergency...

Any thoughts?
Regards Johan

When changes from one location to another, you must make sure the Host information is listed in the PortalAlias table. Example, if you cange from localhost to your servcer which is now accessed by www.somesitename.com.  If that is the case then you need to add www.somesitename.com to the PortalAlias.

Another thing to check is that if you are moving the site to a new server and you create a new website to house the DNN site and the Default Website is still running, make sure it is not bound to the IP you are trying to access (in the case of local host, if Default Website is All Unassigned it will alway take control of the localhost calls.  So stop the Default Website and try again.  If you know access the site that was the issue.

I hope this helps.

I checked the dbo.portalalias table in the database. ip 127.0.0.1 is listed as an alias. But neither 127.0.0.1 or localhost is working.

I think that you are something on track here. I stopped the default website in IIS. So now i get a differint page instead. Http 400 'page is missing' or  'page cant be found' (dont really know what the exact phrase is in english).

So for some reason it doesnt direct to the right place or the right place is called somthing else on the new server.

Great ideas but not quite there yet....

Try adding the machine name and then try accesing it using the machine name (after restarting IIS).

At last i found out why i could not access it.

I used header in IIS. When i removed it i got passed my problem.

BUT now i got another. My admin user can't log in to the database from dnn. Even thou the admin user is created on the new sql installation with the same name. I can log in to the database directly via sql and browse it.
