Hi,

I am sure this is a basic DNN question but I already spent too much time researching for an answer, without any luck.

On a text/html module that doesn't show a container by default. I allowed a role "Content Editor" to be able to edit the module. The default DNN container is showing up if I am logged in as Host or Admin but doesn't show up when I log in with a user part of the "Content Editor" role. This is a problem because the "Edit Text" link isn't displayed if the container isn't there.

As a work around, I created a blank container which contains only the "Edit text" link (ACTIONBUTTON1 I believe), but I find this solution a bit of a hack.

I am running DNN 4.8.3.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks

Nico

Your workaround is the correct way to do it.

Action buttons and menus are part of containers, and if you want them to be displayed then you must display the container. If you want the container to be otherwise undecorated then that is done as a design variation, not by hiding the container.

You should go ahead and create a variety of containers for your skin - with and without buttons and menus and decoration. The simplest method is just to take one of your existing containers and clear out any colours and graphics it contains. You might find you want to retain padding and marginns if the content is meant to align accurately with the other containers.
