Hey all,

I have been developing DNN modules for a while now, and I can't seem to figure out the best solution to this problem:

I have a skin in which there is a container on the left, for naviation and there is one in the middle for content.  I want to be able to create a module which has a filter in the left nav, and the results of a grid in the content nav.

I am at a loss as to how to do this.

Do I:

  1. Create two separate modules that talk to each other?  If so, how I intelligently do this
  2. Somehow in the module definitions definte one ascx page to be in the content page, and another to be in the nav.  Again, if so, how?
  3. Do something with the skin?

Please advise, and thank you in advance for your help!

I would just make one module. It can be a big one that fills the entire page, but I see this problem a lot and it's very simple to create one module

Take a look at the core blogmodule, it does something similar in multiple places.

-- You click on a user's name and it shows that users blog.

-- You click on one of the archive links, it displays all the archived blogs for the period chosen.

This is just a few of the example found in the blog module.
