Is there an impact for getting your module verified/blessed if you choose to go with SQL statements in your module vs. sprocs?

According to the current guidelines at:

there is no problem.

Thank you for your reply.  I had read those but the requirements appeared to be more functional in nature.  I just wanted to clarify there are no formalized code standards to be adhered to.  That might be problematic long term.  Here's why.

Now I would never write something chock full of joins on non-indexed text fields, causing table scans, that used multiple merged typed datasets, serialized to strings and back.  It would not be very fast with any amount of data.  But it doesn't seem right that something written that way could be verified if it meets the functional requirements.  If something is sanctioned by DNN itself I would be under the impression it is of quality.  The DNN brand is worth something.

This is likely worthy of another thread in another place.  Sorry to hijack things.  Just a point I wanted to bring up for you folks in loftier places.  I'm done.  If there is any discussion on this topic later that you feel I could particpate in I would be happy to contribute to the cause.

The guidelines will be continuously evolving. It's a lot of work to handle a certification porgram and things are just getting started.

Shouldn't MySql data provider be part of the core distribution?  I think this will widen the DotNetNuke audience.

I'm beginning to experiment by moving MS SQL Web apps to MySQL. Dedicated hosting is becoming a commodity but the moment you ask for an "uncrippled" version of MS SQL Server it almost equals your monthly hosting cost.   Also your cost structure is not at the same level as your  linux/php/tomcat/ruby MySQL competition.

I can only find http://www.sereneweb.com and they are on version DNN 4.0.3 with no open source to fix bugs and no promises to deliver the next version by xx date.

MySql is being used at Yahoo Finance, Google Gmail, Wikipedia, Livejournal, Wordpress and Web 2.0 companies (Flickr, digg, etc).   Some of biggest sites on the planet.

Postgre also needs to be supported.   Core support for MySql and PostgreSql is almost like tax cut (no microsoft tax) and will spur the DotNetNuke economy.
