I've just modifed an existing theme for the the events module to fit with the style of my installed skin. As a result of this excercise I have thought about a few issues:

1. If I were to upgrade the Events module in the future, woud the default.css file be overwritten? I imagine it would.

If 1 is a YES, then I would seriously consider that the DNN events module CSS file have all css styles prefixed with _DNNEventsModule. Then these styles can be added to the skins CSS file. Then we can do away with themes as this would be encompassed within the skins css file.

Obviously this will pose a issue for backward compatability for existing skins and sites but if DNN is to separate the design from the module as it should then this is one possible way of approaching this.

This may or may not be an issue for other DNN standard modules.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Paul.

Hi Paul

If you need to customize a theme create a copy from an exstisting (Themes/Default/Default.css -> Themes/Yourstyle/Yourstyle.css) and then modify the copy. Make sure that folder name and the name of css file matches. Then you can select your theme in module settings and it never will be overwritten.

Cheers
Renato
