Ian,

That was one of my options and I came to the same conclusion...   that it would be a maintenance nightmare!

Instead, this was my plan of approach.

Create one portal to which membership is required.

Each member will be associated with a base.

(Generally)Each base uses the same home page (base.aspx) with a predefined layout and predefined modules (like Announcements).

However I want the content for the Announcement Module to only display announcements for the base the member is associated with.

How would I extend the Announcements module to include properties for BaseID and maybe even ActivityID and make sure that the business and data logic reflects those additions without modifying the base DNN framework?

Thank you in advance,

Tim

Tim, it looks like you are wanting to extend the base Announcements module.  I would suggest downloading the source package for the module, altering its namespaces and name in the manifest, and then using that "new" module for all of your alterations.  The core announcements module will stay the same, but you can use it as a starting point for a new "OurSite Announcements" module.

Hope that helps,
