Hi!
I am having som problems with 2 installations of DNN on one server ( wich has some other sites without DNN as well ), running in separate directorys with SQL 2005 Express as database.

The sites can be running for weeks without problems and then suddenly they stop with the "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed.”  error message. The other non-DNN sites running on the same server continous to run without problems.

Does someone have a idea where to start to fix this or what it is the cause? The people running the server blames DNN for the failures.

It is a Windows 2003 server with IIS6.

Best Regards

Jari Ivanoff

One solution would be to not use user instances.  There are plenty of SQL Express resources that can show you other options for configuring SQL Express.
